What energy projects are proposed in Brazoria County?

ERCOT's September 2026 interconnection report lists 53 proposed energy projects in Brazoria County (12 solar, 2 wind, 36 battery storage and 3 gas), about 11,167 MW in all. 30 of the 53 have a signed interconnection agreement, and 5 have been approved for energization or synchronization. The table also lists 3 changes to existing plants (repowers or capacity changes), not counted above. 2 are new since August.

What stands out in Brazoria County

By capacity, battery storage leads in Brazoria County with 5,741 MW across 36 projects, followed by solar (12 projects, 2,855 MW) and wind (2 projects, 1,744 MW); 4 self-limiting projects (reported at 0 MW because the resource limits its own output) are listed without a capacity. The largest single project is Hecate Energy Orem Wind, a 1,542 MW wind project listed under Hecate Energy LLC, still in study, and its target online date is Jun 2030. Of the 53, 23 are still in ERCOT's study process, 14 have a signed interconnection agreement but no security posted yet, 11 have posted security or started construction and 5 are approved for energization or synchronization. Connection points are mostly at 138 kV (39 projects), 345 kV (11 projects) and 47 kV (1 project) (why the voltage matters). The single most-used connection point is tap 138kV 44600 Rosharon - 44531 Winmil, shared by 3 projects. Austin Bayou Solar, LLC is listed on the most projects here (4 of 53); 46 different companies appear in all. Target online dates for the projects not yet running span Dec 2025 to Sep 2030. All of them fall in ERCOT's Coastal load zone. 1 is new since August and 3 that were listed in August have since dropped off.

Crowded connection points in Brazoria County

Substations and switching stations named by two or more of the county's requests, matched on ERCOT's PSS/E bus number rather than the exact wording, so "60404 SOLSTICE", "AEP Solstice Substation #60404" and a tap off the Solstice line count together. ERCOT's report lists self-limiting facilities (batteries that limit injection below nameplate) at 0 MW; repowers of existing plants show 0 with no capacity change. "Approved for energization" and "approved for synchronization" are ERCOT's own milestones (backfeed, then first power). "Shared with N other requests" counts active requests anywhere in ERCOT naming the same point of interconnection, matched on ERCOT's exact wording, so a bus written two ways counts as two points.
