What can La Paz County require of a project?

Arizona has no state siting permit for solar, wind, or battery plants and no state decommissioning law, so La Paz County's own zoning sets most of the rules; a transmission line of 115 kV or more needs a state certificate (state rules).

County rules and recent actions: In March 2025 the Board of Supervisors approved a conditional use permit for the Atlas solar project on federal and state land. (AZBEX)
